Bougainville
has a lot to offer from experiencing village life and culture to exploring

Accommodation ranges from simple village housing to more permanent but basic housing. Buin experienceBuin is in South Bougainville and was home to the Japanese during WWII. Things to do in the area are bushwalking, bird watching, viewing WWII relics, exploring the forests and rivers and walking along the beaches and snorkeling reefs. Torokina experienceTorokina is on the West Coast of Bougainville mainland and is accessible by boat only; the boat trip takes about four hours depending on sea conditions.Torokina was the base for the American Forces during WWII and they have left behind some impressive relics. Behind Torokina is Mt Bagana, an active and smoking volcano and is accessible by tractor and then a walk to a village at the base of the volcano where you can explore further with local guides.
